Modern technology is a wonderful thing; it connects people and brings us together.  We can meet new friends and connect with old ones.  But many people let their phone run their lives.  They can’t take a break from it.  In school I see people use their phones while the teacher is giving a lesson.  People need to put away their cell phones once in a while.  I do not dislike technology and social media; in fact I really like it.  But I do think that far too many people let it consume their lives.  Don’t stress about it.  Just turn off the phone.

California’s long running drought may be improving.  This winter is one of the wettest and snowiest on record for the state, and the southern California Mountains have seen a lot of snow.  Despite this, scientists say that we aren’t quite out of the woods yet.  A lead researcher in the study by the University of Colorado on California’s drought, Noah Molotch says, “ … the state is still technically under a drought, but the flood risk is also quite high.”  Senior climate scientist Juliet Smith at the Union of Concerned Scientists says, “Fifty eight percent of the state is still classified in a drought by the U.S. drought monitor”.  We use more than we get on an annual basis” she says, “This means we are in overdraft”.  Many sources recommend continuing to conserve water until we can be sure that California is truly out of its drought.
